The Wonder Of Animal Communication

We are all members of a soul family. We choose our soul relationships to help us with the lessons we have come to learn in this life, and to share our gifts. We all have lessons and gifts to share with others. Our pets are also part of our soul family, and they also come into this world with their lessons and gifts.

I have a beautiful story to illustrate this. Several years ago, one of my clients lost her beloved golden retriever and was going through a difficult period of grief. A well-meaning friend then found a sweet puppy that she thought would be perfect for her, but when they contacted the shelter, the dog had already been adopted by someone else.

A few weeks later, my client received a call that the puppy had been returned to the shelter for some unknown reason. She adopted him immediately and named him Merlin. Wondering why he had been returned to the shelter, she came to see me with Merlin to see if he could give us any clues.

When I looked into Merlin’s eyes, he immediately made it clear that he specifically wanted to be adopted by my client. The other family was supposed to have another dog, so he made sure they gave him back by behaving as badly as possible!

Merlin explained that they needed to be together because they are part of the same soul family, and he came into her life to help her resolve certain childhood traumas that were preventing her from feeling loved and accepted.

Merlin did indeed bring powerful healing into her life at that time. She had been facing great challenges with her biological family, and when Merlin arrived, she began to let go of the past and feel more confident about her future. Because she was involved in hospice work, Merlin was destined to become a therapy dog, which was part of his soul’s plan. It was a win-win soul agreement for the two of them.

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened ~ Anatole France

How did I know what Merlin’s soul mission was? Well, because I am able to communicate with animals both telepathically and empathically, to understand what they are thinking and feeling. I believe we can all communicate with our pets, as well as with wild animals that we meet for even a brief moment. And yes, I think anyone can learn to do it, it just takes a lot of patience, dedicated practice, and an open heart and mind.

When I do pet readings for clients, the first step is to get clarity about what information the pet owner wants to know. Pet owners are often concerned about unusual or troublesome behavior, possible health problems, or changes in the animal’s mood or attitude. Sometimes they just want to exchange a few messages with their beloved pet.

Animal communication can also be done remotely. When I work with an animal from a distance, I find it helpful to have a photo, as well as the animal’s name and age, so that I can keep an image of it in my mind. To practice animal communication, you also need to be in a clear, calm state of being before you begin. I always start with some breathwork to center and ground myself. I relax my body and release any awareness of everyday thoughts or physical sensations in order to become a clear channel.

There are often animals who appear in our life for a brief moment as messengers or as the couriers of some animal medicine for you. Sometimes they seek us out because they need our help. You may intuitively know what they are telling you, or you can simply ask them. You can also look up the symbolims and characteristics of that particular spirit animal or totem.

It often happens that a man is more humanely related to a cat or dog than to any human being ~ Henry David Thoreau

Some time ago a large turtle came into my yard, which is quite unusual. I carried it back across the road, where there are woods and a pond nearby. But it came back across, right up to the front door. I noticed that something was wrong with one of her legs. I spent some time nursing her leg, and also did some energy healing on her. She closed her eyes and rested for a few hours, then got up, walked around perfectly fine. For a moment, she paused and looked back and I felt her energy of appreciation and love warming my heart center. Turtle did not only need my help with her leg that day. She also came to teach me her ancient wisdom of patience, perseveranve, and traveling light by carrying her house on her back.

I picked her up and took her back across the road to the pond and never saw her again.
